There are 33 wild animals left in circuses in the UK. New regulations on the use of animals in circuses may be considered later in the year as part of the Animals Welfare Act.

The Circus Working Group was established by the Government whose aim was to consult animal welfare charities on regulations in regard to wild animals in circuses. In a report published on 20th November 2007, the personal opinion of the Chairman of the group was that there was insufficient evidence to support a banon wild animals in circuses.
